Join our remote-working, highly paid team—and get to improve the world’s best websites

We are primarily concerned with finding people—or services—who are excellent. So please apply for the roles on this page regardless of whether you wish to be an employee, freelancer, independent contractor, get paid on a per-project basis, or offer professional services.

Do you…

Conversion Rate Experts (CRE) might be the place for you

Some of our team members, optimizing how many people can fit in a souvenir photo.
Our team is based in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia‑Pacific. When we get together for our annual retreat we like to have some optimization fun—like how many people can fit in a souvenir photo.

CRE is the world’s leading agency for conversion rate optimization (CRO).

It has worked in over 80 different markets, in 11 languages, and in 40 countries—optimizing the profits of some of the web’s most sophisticated companies, including Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook, and Dropbox, as well as many blue-chip enterprises, financial institutions, media companies, and fast-growing startups.

CRE increases the profits of businesses scientifically by analyzing their websites’ visitors, creating optimized pages, and then A/B testing them to measure the increase in sales. It has generated billions in revenue for its clients and double- and triple-digit improvements are the norm.

At the bottom of this page, you’ll see a list of the roles that we hire for. First though, we’ll describe why you’ll love working for Conversion Rate Experts…

What you’ll get on this page

The top ten reasons our team members joined us (according to them)

1. Work from anywhere in the world you choose. We’re looking for the very best people, so we won’t be restricted by your location. We won’t expect you to visit clients either, so you can spend the whole day doing productive work—and the whole evening with your loved ones.

2. Collaborate with prestigious clients. Imagine what it will feel like to lead projects for companies like Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook, and Dropbox.

3. We pay considerably more than most other agencies, because we know that one brilliant mind is worth much more than many mediocre ones.

4. Learn to be the best in the world. We’ll reveal every secret we’ve ever discovered about growing web businesses. You get to be entrepreneurial but without the risk.

5. Work with great colleagues, who have a wealth of knowledge. We’re continuously building the world’s number-one team in conversion rate optimization. And our clients include many of the world’s most sophisticated web-marketing teams. So you’ll be in exciting and stimulating company.

Nicolas
The collective knowledge we share within the team is simply phenomenal. I’m surrounded by brilliant minds but no one has an ego.”

6. Join our private mastermind group. Though we work remotely, we communicate frequently. As well as daily collaboration with your colleagues, you’ll have access to our mastermind group, which discusses the latest techniques we’ve developed and the results they’ve generated.

7. Develop personally and professionally. You’ll receive regular mentoring and training designed to optimize your performance, time, and income. You’ll also have the freedom to use the latest technology, as well as the budget to work with the best vendors in the world.

8. Full access to our private library of winning experiments. Our published case studies are just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll be able to fast-track your development by studying our private case studies, which describe in fine detail the winning controls that we’ve created in almost every industry vertical.

9. Extremely collaborative culture. Pretty much every newcomer expresses surprise at how helpful and sharing our team is. If you’d like to discover more about what it’s like to work with us, here’s an article about our culture. It’s the most revealing article we’ve ever published, and is well worth a read if you’re considering joining our team.

Dave
“The best thing about Conversion Rate Experts is the people, and the ideas we all bring to the table. We have conversations about conversion that are so cutting edge—you’d never read them in a book or hear them at a conference.

10. Visit our stunning offices. We host annual get-togethers for our entire team at our stunning UK offices in the spectacular eighteenth-century Hawkesyard Hall, amid picturesque formal gardens, canals, and 200 acres of grounds. And it’s just 40 minutes from Birmingham International Airport. (That said, we spend surprisingly little time in the office during these events!)

We’re part of a group of best‑in‑class specialist marketing companies

Next 15

With most career decisions, you have to choose between the culture of a startup, with its exciting pace but high risk, and the culture of an enterprise, with its dependable high salary but slow movement.

At CRE, you get the best of both worlds.

CRE’s culture is entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and fun. We were a bootstrapped startup, and it’s in our genes.

We are now part of the Next 15 group, which provides us with economies of scale, a network of multi-disciplined colleagues, global offices, and the benefits of being a public company (some of our team members have chosen to hold shares in Next 15).

You’re statistically likely to be happy here

We’re a cheerful bunch—and that’s a fact.

We use software called Limeade Listening to monitor and manage our company culture. Every month, Limeade Listening asks each of us how happy we are, on a scale of 1 to 5. As the graph below shows, our team happiness score is way above average. (Plus, we expect that Limeade Listening’s average is already high, because its clients are companies that focus on this kind of thing.)

Graph of our Limeade Listening happiness over two years
You’re likely to be happier when you join us, as that top line shows.

We have won several Limeade Listening awards for our industry-leading scores for team happiness, company culture, personal development, communication and transparency, talent retention and attraction, and performance recognition.

You can work remotely—wherever is ideal for you

Remote working is the future, and we’re experts at it. Our founders have worked remotely for over fifteen years. We frequently get quoted in the media about how we have pioneered ways to build a fun, collaborative and highly effective remote-first business.

Working remotely can change your life. We passionately encourage our team members to embrace the freedom that remote work gives. We are proud that they…

We’ll provide training, mentoring and support to make sure you benefit from the freedom and autonomy that remote working provides.

Eamon

My family and I have traveled the world while working. Your only limitation is access to the internet.”

It’s amazing to have the freedom to work from anywhere. I don’t think I could go back to a regular 9 to 5 job.”

You’ll learn new and interesting life skills

It’s not all about marketing. During our weekly mastermind calls and company get‑togethers, our team members present on a wide range of valuable life skills, such as:

A photo of the CRE team at Amazon
The CRE team enjoying a visit to Amazon.

Everyone is welcome here. You can be yourself, and feel you belong.

Ben and Karl

We are striving to make CRE an environment where everyone can shine and thrive. We do not discriminate. We uphold and celebrate our differences.

“We read that nearly 40 percent of New York residents are foreign born. Not just of foreign origin, but actually born abroad. We believe that New York’s diversity is what makes it such an exciting, vibrant place to be. We want the same for CRE.

“In many respects our team is diverse: Our team members are in seven countries, speak five languages, and have a fantastic array of backgrounds, experiences, and personal challenges. Still, we are committed to becoming much better. Please know that you’re welcome, and can be yourself here.

—Martin Stone, CRE’s CEO

Fortunately, diversity is key to our company’s success. Our clients—and their customers—differ in their languages, pronouns, racial identities, ages, passions, beliefs, neurodiversities, accessibility requirements, family circumstances, and social needs. Without diversity, inclusivity, and empathy, we would not be able to gain the understanding we need to grow our clients’ businesses.

Amber
“It's refreshing to be in a place where I’m treated as an equal and the things that make me different are seen as a bonus. Here, my quirks and differences are embraced as a strategic advantage, and my unique perspective is in high demand.

You’ll be working with exceptional people

Our team includes successful entrepreneurs, Amazon best-selling authors, Cambridge scientists, heads of agencies, veterans of direct response marketing, and former employees of Google, eBay, Ogilvy & Mather, and British Aerospace.

Our growth has come from our reputation for getting amazing results, and we intend to keep it that way. If you believe you’d be a valuable addition to the team, get in touch with us—wherever you live, whatever your current situation, and whatever your earnings requirements.

Casey
“What surprised me most about working with CRE is the level of support and camaraderie–even across the world. I truly count the CRE team members as friends.”

Interested, but not sure if you’re qualified?

We don’t all have formidable backgrounds. In fact, some of our highest-performing team members were “diamonds in the rough”—exceptional people working in unexceptional surroundings.

So if you aren’t sure whether you’re suitable, please apply anyway. We have loads of experience recognizing talent, and at the very least, the application process will reveal the skills we believe are valuable.

The roles for which we’re hiring

For all the roles below, the first stage of the application process is the same, so if in doubt, apply anyway, and then we can collaborate with you to explore the position that makes the best use of your skills, experience, and strengths.

We understand that you may already have clients or projects of your own, and that’s fine. Please mention this in your application. Some of our team members have the freedom of being self-employed—although this means you’ll manage your own taxes, health care, pension, and home-office expenses.

(Note that, for obvious reasons, if you work for one of our clients—or for a company actively considering using our services—we can’t consider you.)

CRO researcher

Wanted: brilliant technical minds from inside—or outside—the web industry.

One of our co-founders is a Cambridge scientist, and several of our departments were created by a former aerospace engineer, so we know from experience that top-class scientists, engineers, and people from other technical disciplines really get this stuff.

We’re currently looking for one such technical mind to join our research department. Perhaps surprisingly, you don’t need to have experience working in the web industry. That’s because you’ll be working closely with some of the world’s best web marketers, creating processes and workflows that support—and sometimes automate—many of the activities they carry out.

More details

What you’ll be doing—and why it’s an exciting opportunity

At Conversion Rate Experts, we don’t guess what’s wrong with a web business. We find out. This is the job of our research department. The key question to address is “Why aren’t visitors converting?” and we leave no stone unturned in finding the answer.

Typically, we seek to understand different visitor types and intentions, identify user-experience problems, and gather and understand visitors’ objections. We have developed a unique approach to doing so that’s unrivaled in the industry.

And this is where you’ll come in. We’re looking for a brilliant technical mind to join, and shortly lead, our research department. We’re growing at a rate of knots, so we’re looking for someone who has the potential to follow suit. The role is effectively a hands-on crash course in entrepreneurship.

Our methodology is much more scientific and accountable than most web businesses. You must be systematic in your approach, and able to master sophisticated technical concepts and apply them in situations where the cost of failure is high. You’ll also be a great communicator, capable of making sense of complex data and presenting it in a constantly innovating and evolving manner. Most of all, you’ll be a problem solver, able to think logically in complex situations.

You’ll need to have the potential to quickly become great at the following things

  • Understanding the psychology of a website’s visitors.
  • Project management, motivating teams, and mentoring others.
  • Time management.
  • Communicating complex subjects in a way that’s easy to understand.
  • The psychology of persuasion.
  • Web marketing and advertising.

We have been overwhelmed with interest for this role, so we have created a waiting list.

Front-end designer and developer

Get to design and build pages for the world’s best companies. You’ll join our team of experts, responsible for delivering amazing (and measurable) results for our clients.

You’ll take ideas, concepts and copy, and turn them into winning pages to A/B test against our clients’ existing versions. You’ll be helping to measurably improve websites that others think are unbeatable.

More details

We are looking for the following:

  • You’re world-class (or on your way to becoming world-class).
  • An eye for detail. You’ll design pages to the high standards that enterprise-level clients demand.
  • CSS, HTML, and JavaScript skills. (Experience of implementing A/B tests is a bonus.)
  • Experience carrying out quality assurance and usability tests on your work.
  • Communication skills, so you’re comfortable speaking to clients (and fun to have on calls).
  • An appreciation and understanding of the power of copywriting and typography.
  • An obsession with the craft of creating and improving awesome stuff. (As a company, we focus a lot on systems and workflows, lean principles, XP, iterative design, clean code, etc.)

Please apply even if you don’t have all of the above—provided you’re keen to learn quickly.

Internal operations (to help us scale)

As a remote-first company, we rely on usable systems and great technology. Our operations team creates and oversees these systems to make us productive, efficient, collaborative, and scalable.

You’ll be working alongside all of our departments to keep us at the cutting edge of technology, workflows, automation, and data security.

More details

We’re looking for people who are…

  • Technical and create things that are elegantly easy to use
  • Great with Google Workspace
  • Experienced with remote collaboration tools
  • Highly responsible and proactive with data privacy and security
  • Early adopters who love discovering and researching new technologies
  • Good at discerning software that’s robust but also not clunky
  • Accustomed to working with lots of non-integrated technologies and implementing better systems that don’t break what’s there already
  • Fascinated with productivity and lean principles
  • Excited to find opportunities to automate or remove repetitive tasks
  • Experienced enough to know the cost of technical debt and mess, and therefore diligent enough to decommission whatever’s being replaced, and always leaving things tidier than when they arrived.

Of course, we know that one person is unlikely to have all those skills, and what we are really looking for is the ability to tackle novel, hard projects, like the following recent examples:

  • Creating a process to convert the Google Docs manuscript of our book, Making Websites Win, to Kindle in 15 minutes.
  • Using tools like Zapier to integrate our financial reporting tools with our sales CRM and management dashboards.
  • Identifying the best podcast hosting company and then setting it up.
  • Deciding on our visual design system—and our design ethos—and then finding a designer who can roll it out.
  • Choosing project management tools and building templates to standardize the delivery of our client services.

Marketing

We’d like you to tell the world about our innovations, client success stories, and behind-the-scenes knowhow. We are looking for the following:

More details

Unusually, we don’t have an outbound sales function. We sell not by imposing ourselves on people but by being genuinely helpful. We turn visitors into fans by publishing valuable content (like our best-selling book, impressive case studies, and useful articles). Our approach is only to publish things we’d send to our best friends. We then have processes to provide valuable advice to prospects who inquire about our services.

You don’t have to be able to do everything in the list above, and they aren’t necessarily full-time roles. For example, we often need very specific skills, like audiobook narrators, or infographics designers. Just let us know what you’re great at.

We have been overwhelmed with interest for this role, so we have created a waiting list.

Technically-minded writer

We are looking for an amazing, technically-minded, writer (who can also coordinate our marketing activities).

Currently, most of our marketing materials are created—or at least overseen—by our founders. After all, that’s what they specialize in. As our business grows, we’re looking for someone who can take this work off them. The role will effectively be a hands-on crash course in entrepreneurship.

Our approach is only to publish things we’d send to our best friends. We then have processes to provide valuable advice to prospects who inquire about our services.

Our approach is much more scientific and accountable than most marketing. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and must be able to quickly learn sophisticated technical concepts and communicate them in a way that gets readers to take action.

You’ll need to be able to write fascinating articles that people love so much they’ll forward them to all their friends. This is not a high-volume writing role: we are looking for someone who’d rather write a small number of finely crafted “masterpieces” rather than loads of filler material.

We’re looking for people who are…

  • Passionate about marketing and advertising, with a flair for creating writing that captivates. (Many of our articles and reports go “viral” around the Internet.)
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Able to communicate complex subjects in a way that’s easy to understand. Though any degree would be suitable, it would help if at school you were good at science and maths.
  • Excited to become an expert in the following subjects: the psychology of persuasion, web marketing, the Internet, advertising and copywriting.
  • Almost irritatingly good at writing and grammar.

We’re flexible on the working arrangements (full-time or part-time employment, freelance, paid-per-project, etc.). Just mention your preferred way of working in your application.

Internal sales coordinator

Often described as the “conductor of the business,” the internal sales coordinator oversees the operations of the sales team. By providing comprehensive sales support to our new and existing clients, you’ll assist our sales consultants and help to grow our business. (For that reason, you’ll need to work similar office hours to the UK. It’s a remote role, though, so you can be anywhere with a compatible time zone.)

Our sales team—and our culture in general—is collaborative and sharing. We work hard to avoid conflicts of interest, dysfunctional incentives, intra-company competition, and suboptimization. We do this by paying above-market salaries and providing opportunities to develop professionally.

What you will be doing:

  • Scheduling appointments for our sales consultants.
  • Following up with prospects.
  • Researching and qualifying new business opportunities.
  • Onboarding new clients.
  • Liaising with internal teams, including our legal and finance departments.
  • Sending quotes and managing our sales pipeline in HubSpot.

About you:

  • You are exceptionally organized and can successfully manage and prioritize your workload.
  • You follow workflows with precision and care while proactively suggesting improvements. If you spot (metaphorical) litter in our systems, you (literally) tidy it up. We follow the scouting rule of “leave the campground tidier than you found it.”
  • You have strong communication skills and build effective relationships (usually over email).
  • You thrive when working autonomously—and as part of a team.
  • You can quickly understand and qualify our prospects’ business goals to determine if our services are a great fit.
  • You have an eye for detail and take the time to document everything diligently. (We believe “the faintest pencil is better than the strongest memory.”) You leverage technology to create usable systems.

You don’t need to tick all of the above boxes. What we are really looking for is someone who’s determined to succeed and keen to learn.

We have been overwhelmed with interest for this role, so we have created a waiting list.

Sales consultant

Join our sales team to manage and develop our pipeline of inbound prospects.

Inbound prospects, you say? Yes!

More details

Does the following sound like you?:

  • You’re technically minded. You could pick up the phone and describe our services, methodologies, and client successes in as much—or as little—detail as needed. (You don’t need to have experience in conversion rate optimization but a technical background would help.)
  • You can quickly understand and qualify our prospects’ business goals to determine if our services are a great fit. You’re familiar with the economics of online marketing and where our service fits in.
  • You work well remotely. You excel when interacting online with prospects, clients, and colleagues.
  • You have excellent communication skills. You’re enjoyable to speak with and can write user-friendly emails, presentations, and proposals.
  • You have an eye for detail, and take the time to diligently document everything. (We believe “the faintest pencil is better than the strongest memory.”) You leverage technology to create usable systems.
  • You spot opportunities. (There are many exciting opportunities to collaborate with our sister companies.) You’re also great at taking insights from raw idea to thing-that-actually-works.
  • You proactively suggest improvements. If you spot (metaphorical) litter in our systems, you (literally) tidy it up. We follow the scouting rule of “leave the campground tidier than you found it.”
  • You thrive working with a small team but are excited to grow the team’s capacity. The first step is to optimize our sales processes. Then, once they are working to capacity, you’ll help us add people. Our hiring philosophy is to have a small team of incredibly efficient, highly paid people.

Our sales team—and our culture in general—is collaborative and sharing. We work hard to avoid conflicts of interest, dysfunctional incentives, intra-company competition, and suboptimization.

We pay above-market salaries—regardless of location—and have several mechanisms to reward exceptional performance.

Our hiring process is enjoyable and collaborative

You’re welcome to speak with our team members: We understand that joining a company is a two-way street. It’s just as important for you to find the right position as it is for us to find the right person. During the hiring process, we’re happy to arrange one-on-one calls with our team members, so you can discuss life at CRE, to be sure it’s the right fit for you.

Each step of our hiring process gives you opportunities to experience who we are and how we work—and vice versa—so by the time you join CRE, it’s not a leap of faith. The process is as follows:

  1. You submit a short application and video to show us your work and achievements.
  2. You submit a more detailed application to tell us more about yourself and your skills, goals, and ambitions. Many applicants mention that this stage reveals opportunities for personal development they had not previously considered.
  3. You have an online interview with us (using Google Meet), in which we get to know each other. We’ll collaborate with you on a short task and then discuss how you approach work. We’ll tell you more about the role and how we work. (You can ask us anything. Nothing is taboo.)
  4. Complete a paid mini-assignment: The best way to know if we’re a good fit for each other is to do some work together. You’ll be working directly with some of our team members on real tasks. If you enjoy it, you’ll enjoy CRE. (And if you don’t, now’s a good time to find out!)
  5. You meet the rest of our team on one of our weekly Mastermind Calls. During the call, one of our team members will present their client’s situation, challenges, and opportunities. Then the rest of us—including you—will collaborate on ideas to grow the client’s business. The call is one of the highlights of our week and showcases our company culture and workflows.
  6. We’ll complete the agreements, reference checks, and other admin.
  7. We’ll onboard you: We are a remote-first company and have been since 2006, so we’re experts at remote onboarding. Our team members will help you settle in and introduce you to our training and learning resources, all of which are online.
Eamon
During the hiring process, I felt comfortable being myself and letting my work do the talking. I didn’t feel the need to put on a performance. I trusted CRE to tell me if the role suited my skills.”
